The Indiana Kentucky Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters offers apprenticeships to become Carpenters, Millwrights and Floor Coverers. Students attend school in Louisville 1 week every 3 months for up to 4 years. In between the weeks of school, you will be on the job working for one of our contractors, learning your craft from experienced journeypersons and earning good money and benefits while you’re doing it.

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN
Pharmacy technician classes can get you started on this fulfilling career path. You will gain the skills and knowledge to qualify for entry-level pharmacy positions and be prepared for national certification.
SCHEDULE: Online, Self-Paced, 400 hours, up to 12 months. This means that you do not meet in a classroom. When you are finished with the course you will be able to take the test for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE). This course includes a voucher for the test fee and an online lab module. There is an opportunity to do a 100-hour externship upon completion.
COST: $2,495, financial assistance may be available

PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN
Learn about drawing blood from patients, how to properly explain the blood-drawing procedure to patients, basic point-of-care testing, and maintain medical equipment such as needles, test tubes, and blood vials.
SCHEDULE: Online, Self-Paced, 200 hours, up to 12 months. This means that you do not meet in a classroom. When you are finished with the course you will be able to take the test for the Certified Phlebotomy Technical (CPT) Exam. This course includes a voucher for the test fee and an online lab module. There is an opportunity to do an unpaid clinical experience upon completion.
COST: $2,495, financial assistance may be available

CLINICAL MEDICAL ASSISTANT (CMA) TECHNICIAN
Learn about medical terminology, medical law, ethics, HIPAA rules, and scheduling systems, measure vital signs, assist with exams, perform laboratory testing, maintain equipment and supplies, administer injections, obtain blood specimens, schedule appointments, and register patients.
SCHEDULE: Online, Self-Paced, 540 hours, up to 12 months. This means that you do not meet in a classroom. When you are finished with the course you will be able to take the test for the Certified Medical Assistant Exam. This course includes a voucher for the test fee and an online lab module. There is an opportunity to become CPR Certified and participate in an unpaid clinical experience upon completion.
COST: $2,890, financial assistance may be available

MEDICAL BILLING & CODING
Medical Billers and Coders are responsible for processing patient data including medical records and related insurance. In this position, you will code a patient's diagnosis and then request payment from the patient's insurance company. You will play an important role in ensuring that healthcare providers are quickly and accurately paid for the treatment they give patients.
SCHEDULE: Online, Self-Paced, 370 hours, up to 12 months. This means that you do not meet in a classroom. This course includes a voucher for the test fee and an online lab module. There is an opportunity to take 1 of 3 exams of your choice upon completion: Certified Professional Coder, Certified Coding Associate or Certified Billing & Coding Specialist.
COST: $3,000 - $3,890, financial assistance may be available

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (EMT)
An EMT is trained to provide initial stabilization of a sick or injured person in first response situations. EMTs are also trained to control bleeding, treatment of shock, monitoring vital signs, splinting fractures, administering oxygen and other life-support techniques. EMTs work closely with police and fire department personnel, doctors, nurses and paramedics.
SCHEDULE: Training usually takes 130 hours. Classes may be offered at various locations in our region. Some programs require that you have CPR certification before you take the training and other programs allow you to earn a CPR certification during the training. You must also pass the National Registry for Emergency Medical Technicians exams and get your name added to the National EMT Registry.
COST: $1,200 or more, financial assistance may be available
REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED and be 18 years old or older; must be able to read, write and understand English
POTENTIAL SALARY AFTER TRAINING: $33,700 / year ($16.21 / hour)

LINEMAN TRAINING
A lineman training program provides instruction and training to students who want to work as Line Technicians in the utility industry. Line Technicians install and repair cables and wires used in electrical power and distribution systems.
SCHEDULE: The training schedule and locations vary. There is not a training location in our immediate area, but there is one that is in Madisonville, KY and another that is in Somerset, KY.
COST: $4,500 - $8,650, financial assistance may be available
REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED and be 18 years old or older; must be able to read, write and understand English; must be able to pass a DOT Physical and DOT Drug Screen
POTENTIAL SALARY AFTER TRAINING: $37,000 / year ($17.84)

HEAVY EQUIPMENT TRAINING
Heavy Equipment training will prepare students for construction building jobs, infrastructure projects (roads and bridges), and in mining and timber operations. A Heavy Equipment Operator provides necessary skills for any project that requires moving and transporting heavy materials or demands moving dirt.
SCHEDULE: 4 Weeks; 8 am - 4 pm; COMING SUMMER 2023
COST: $3,750, financial assistance may be available
REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED; must be able to read, write and understand English

TRAIN FOR A CAREER IN AI FUNDAMENTALS, WEB DEVELOPMENT OR CYBERSECURITY in as little as 12 weeks through boot camps designed to begin your career in tech. Little to no tech experience required!
SCHEDULE: Full time course is 12 weeks Mon - Fri 8 am - 4 pm or
Part-time evening course is 24 weeks Mon - Thu 5 pm - 8 pm. All classes are online, live and interactive. A laptop is provided while enrolled in the course. New cohorts begin every three months. TRAIN FOR YOUR CDL IN JUST 4 WEEKS!
Our Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program is designed to prepare individuals with little or no commercial driving experience for an entry-level position in the trucking industry.
SCHEDULE: Classes start on the first Monday of each month unless otherwise announced and run 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Thursday, for 4 weeks. Classes are offered in Franklin, KY just off Exit 6 on Interstate 65. Enrollments are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited.
COST: $4,200, financial assistance may be available
REQUIREMENTS: 18 years old; pass drug test; have a driver’s license; meet physical requirements; must be a permanent resident or U.S. citizen; must be able to read, write & speak English

WORKS
The Kentucky WORKS program is available to individuals who receive K-TAP benefits. It provides training and support and job-seeking assistance. Click 2 to learn more about this program.
An internship is a short-term work experience offered by companies and other organizations for people to get some entry-level exposure to a particular industry or field. It is as much of a learning and career training experience as it is work because it provides meaningful work experience in a career sector. Some interns are able to be paid and other interns may not be able to earn money during their internship.

The K-TAP Kentucky WORKS Program is a service available to Kentuckians who are unemployed, under-employed (which means you are working for low wages), or about to become unemployed and are pregnant or responsible for a child under 19 years of age. This program offers monthly transportation support payments and yearly auto repair funds to work-eligible individuals.

In order to successfully complete the training, participants must:

Attend the entire training (8 hours for 5 days over 3 weeks) and study from the textbook and handouts outside of class.

Pass a written multiple choice test with a minimum grade of 70% on the last day
The cost of the training is $540, but all local participants qualify for scholarships that reduce to fee to $40 or less.
The course is generally offered once in the winter and once in the summer.
